Spring League will focus on skill development and fun. It is our goal that each child becomes more involved in the play and has increased opportunities to touch the puck.
Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, 1204 4th Avenue South, St. Cloud, MN 56301
All games played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center home of the St. Cloud State Huskies.
THIS IS A NO CHECKING LEAGUE! Rules will be strictly enforced. Zero tolerance. Full approved hockey equipment is required. All players will be given a jersey to keep. Each team will be assigned a coach. Goalies are encouraged to sign up early as there will be only one goalie per team.
Mini-Mites / Mites
This year we will not have skills and drills to determine teams. We are counting on parents/guardians to honestly sign up your skaters at the appropriate ability level in order to make our league fair and fun because ultimately it is a recreational league. Only put your skater the next level up if you think it is appropriate! There will be a 7-9 game schedule and games will be played half ice. Players will change lines every two minutes. There will be one official for each game. No scores will be kept. Mite level only, the last two games will be full ice.
Squirts / Peewees
Skaters will be placed on teams based on 2016-2017 levels of play – we will only allow players to move up to the next level if they will be playing at that level in the upcoming 2017-2018 season. We will make every effort to even out the teams so that there is a range of levels on each team to allow skaters to develop their skills with players of different levels. Games will be two 12 minute stop time periods and a third period of running time for a total length of one hour. There will be two officials and one scoreboard operator. Scores will be kept but standings will not and there will be no playoffs. We will try to limit teams to 13 skaters or less and 1 goalie. Players will have 1-2 practice sessions followed by 8-10 games.
Registrations received after the deadline will be assigned to a team/group based on availability. In the event the league is full at the desired level, fees will be refunded.
